Meet our very special older lady...LUCKY! LUCKY is our chonky (pleasantly plump!) girl with a beautiful black and white tuxedo coat. LUCKY has amazing eyes that give you a glimmer into her gentle soul. Our vet staff estimates LUCKY to be around eleven years old. LUCKY'S backstory is one of both sadness and triumph that will pull at your heartstrings. We first heard about LUCKY when we received a call from a resident of a local city that had been feeding LUCKY (a neighborhood stray) on her porch for a few years. The resident said LUCKY had given birth to multiple litters of kittens over the years. The concerned resident knew she could not let this cycle continue and so she called our organization for help, guidance and assistance. LUCKY was humanely trapped and brought to our cat center. Upon arrival and medical examination, we discovered LUCKY was late pregnant once again. We immediately placed LUCKY with one of our amazing fosters and LUCKY gave birth to a litter of three kittens just two weeks later. Unfortunately, due to LUCKY'S age and previous history of multiple births over the years, LUCKY was unable to nurse her newborn litter. We brought LUCKY'S three kittens to another lactating mom cat in foster care who took LUCKY'S kittens under her wing. All three of LUCKY'S babies not only survived but thrived and have found their forever homes. LUCKY was later successfully spayed albeit at an older age. At our cat center, LUCKY was extremely shutdown, depressed and defeated. It seemed as if all she wanted to do was try to hide and "disappear" into the background so no one could see her. We then placed LUCKY into a new foster home to see if being in a home environment with one-on-one attention would help her come out of her shell and benefit her situation. LUCKY made slow progress at the new foster's home over the course of several months. However, her foster became sick and so we welcomed her with open arms back to our cat center. It may have took some time...but the growth, gradual change and improvements in comfort level and acceptance this brave, perseverant kitty made has been amazing to witness and nothing less than remarkable. LUCKY is finally at a point where she is comfortable with both people, other cats and her surroundings. LUCKY loves being out and about in the room at our cat center. LUCKY is very fond of being pet and adores having her backend scratched in just the right spot. LUCKY engages in interactive playtime with a wand toy. LUCKY'S favorite spot to rest and relax is in her "cat condo llama bed" which will surely be sent home with her and her adopter! This beautiful girl has endured more than we could ever imagine in her storied past. Now is her time to shine bright and live out her golden years with an adopter(s) in a Forever Home that brings her a sense of joy, safety and peace that she rightfully deserves for many years to come.
