About Juno

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT • RESCUE PLACEMENT • BREED-EDUCATED HOMES ONLY Juno is a Cane Corso weighing approximately 100 pounds who still carries the mindset of a very large puppy. She arrived at the shelter last December along with two other Cane Corsos after they were removed from a home situation. With that situation now resolved, we are now working to find the right placements for each of these dogs. Juno is the most reserved of the three and takes time to build trust with new people. This is not unusual for the breed, but it does mean that she needs calm introductions and patience while she learns that someone is safe to be part of her circle. Once she becomes comfortable, Juno shows that she is still very much a young dog at heart, despite her size. At around 100 pounds, she has the strength and physical presence of a fully grown Cane Corso, but she is still learning how to manage her enthusiasm and energy. Juno did not have the opportunity for much early socialization prior to arriving at the shelter. Because of this, introductions to other dogs should be done carefully and thoughtfully. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. Like all guardian breeds, Juno will require an experienced owner who understands the Cane Corso breed and can provide structure, leadership, and continued training as she matures. Juno has now spent several months in the shelter environment, which is not ideal for a young guardian breed. She would benefit greatly from a stable home where she can continue developing with consistent guidance. Cane Corsos are loyal, intelligent, and naturally protective dogs that require experienced ownership. Juno will only be placed in a home with experience owning Cane Corsos or similar guardian breeds. Juno is current on vaccinations and has received veterinary care through the shelter. She will be microchipped and spayed prior to finalizing placement. Juno tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently being treated through the shelter as part of her veterinary care. Lyme disease is fairly common in dogs and, with treatment, many dogs go on to live normal lives. Apply here: https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
