Elmer is 14 years old, about 20 pounds, and found himself back at square one after being relinquished to us due to someone in his previous home developing allergies to him. It's a tough break, especially at his age, but Elmer hasn't let it change who he is. He's still a loving, easygoing, genuinely good dog who just wants someone to call his own again! Once Elmer gets to know you, he's all in. He'll follow you from room to room, always keeping tabs on you and happily soaking up any attention you're willing to give. He's affectionate, loyal, and just really enjoys being close to his person. He has a big heart and isn't shy about wanting to be loved right back. Around the rescue, Elmer tends to hang back a bit and take things in. He's not the type to push himself into the spotlight, but he's always nearby, watching, waiting, and ready for his turn to get some love. He does great with other mellow dogs and is friendly with people of all ages, especially if they come with back scratches or snacks. He is very food motivated and eager to please, which makes him easy to connect with! We think he might be a pug and beagle mix, but whatever he is, he's incredibly cute and full of charm. He enjoys his walks, likes being out in the sunshine, and is just as happy coming back in to relax and nap. Elmer is a great, steady kind of dog. He's not asking for much, just a home where he can feel secure again and live out his golden years surrounded by love and a person who will stick with him this time.
