Cruelty comes in many forms. This one is a cute little flower Lomasi. We don’t know the details of her case but we can see some of the physical effects of her situation. Her face and body is full of scars and healing wounds. Lomasi is timid, so much so she didn’t want to leave her kennel and needed to be carried. Lomasi craves love. We think she is special and deserves some peace. The first step is making it out of the shelter into a quiet home. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
