About Millie
Trained up, Steady, and Just Ready to Chill Millie is one of those dogs where you’re about five minutes in and realize… oh, this is easy. She’s about 50 pounds, born August 2024, and she carries herself like she’s already been doing life with people for a while. Nothing about her feels chaotic or unsure — she just settles in and moves with you. She’s been through a full month of professional board-and-train with a K9 company that trains police dogs, so she is trained up in a real, usable way. Sit, down, place, stay, heel, come, off — she knows what’s being asked and she follows through without a whole production. On walks, she’s calm and easy. No pulling, no nonsense — just a dog walking with you, not against you. At home, this is where she really stands out. Her current adopters absolutely love her, and it makes sense. She’s affectionate, but not over the top about it. She’ll hang out on the couch while you work, nap nearby, check in for a little attention, and then go right back to relaxing. She’s not looking to be entertained all day — she’s just good company. She has her playful moments, but overall she’s a settle-in kind of dog. The kind that makes your house feel calmer just by being in it. Millie has lived with her sister for over a year and has also done well around other dogs, including a confident female in the extended family. She walks well with other dogs and is completely appropriate in those situations. More recently, she and her sister have started butting heads at home — more of a “who’s in charge” situation between two confident females. Because of that, we want to place Millie in a home where she doesn’t have to navigate that dynamic long-term. She would do best: As an only dog or With a laid-back, easygoing dog (male preferred) who isn’t trying to compete for that role This isn’t a dog who can’t be around other dogs — she does well with them, especially in structured settings like walks. This is just about making sure her home environment stays stable and easy for her. Millie does best with someone who appreciates structure and consistency, but she’s not a difficult dog. She already knows how to live in a home, follow direction, and be part of someone’s day without making it complicated. She fits into a routine naturally — the kind of dog who’s right there with you during the day and settles in beside you at night like she’s always belonged there. Millie is trained up, affectionate, steady, and genuinely enjoyable to live with — the kind of dog people meet and immediately understand why she’s so loved. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued. +++++++ Once we receive your application, we will review it and reach out to schedule an interview with one of our volunteers.
