Jasper
AvailableJasper is a male Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix in Webster, WI, and is in his adult years. Medium in size at 55 pounds, he’s house trained, neutered, and has his vaccinations up to date. Jasper is gentle, good-mannered, and comes with a shiny black coat. He is well-suited for families with children, does well with other dogs, and has some separation anxiety that a committed adopter can help him work through.
About Jasper
Jasper landed at the rescue with a snout full of porcupine quills on Christmas Eve, but bounced back quickly. At about 4 years old, Jasper is a little timid at first, but he warms up fast if you offer food or some affection—neck scratches, belly rubs, you name it. He’s a solid, medium-sized dog at 55 pounds with a shiny black coat and a serious fondness for cuddles. He’ll wait for an invite before hopping on the couch and shows polite manners overall. Jasper doesn’t jump on people, so he’s a good fit for households with kids. He’s gentle with treats and food, only taking what’s allowed. Besides that, he gets along well with other dogs if introduced properly, but he doesn’t get along with cats. He likes to toss around a stuffed toy or play when he gets the chance, and he walks nicely on leash, sticking by your side. Jasper is food motivated and eager to learn, already knowing sit, shake, and come. He did spend over a year in an adoptive home but was returned when his person changed jobs and Jasper started to develop some separation anxiety and dislike for crating. This is workable with consistency and patience. Jasper just needs someone willing to help him grow his confidence. He’s got a great base—he just needs the right human to help him finish the job.
