I'm Dexter - a 60-pound Labrador Retriever mix with a BIG personality and even bigger energy! I'll be honest right away: I'm a crazy, rambunctious guy who is always on the move and ready for whatever adventure comes next. I bounce through life with excitement, curiosity, and a nose that just has to investigate everything around me. I absolutely love people and crave attention and affection, but sometimes my enthusiasm gets the better of me. I'm still learning my manners and really need help with things like jumping and calming my busy body down. I don't mean to overwhelm anyone - I just get so excited because I want to be loved and included in everything you're doing! Underneath all that energy is a very sweet boy who truly wants connection, consistency, and someone who will guide me as I figure out how to be my best self. Because I'm such an active, high-energy pup, I need a home that can keep up with me and give me plenty of exercise and structure every day. I would thrive somewhere with room to run and explore, since apartment living just isn't the right fit for my activity level and anxious tendencies. I can get a little worried when left alone for long periods, so a home where I'm not by myself for 10+ hours would help me feel safe and secure. With patience, training, and consistency, I have so much potential to grow into an amazing companion. I'm incredibly loving, eager to bond, and ready to give my whole heart to someone willing to put in the time and effort to help me shine.
