About Leonard
Meet Leonard… now 12 weeks old, 16 pounds, and quietly working his way toward becoming a large adult dog with a calm, thoughtful personality. While some puppies burst into a room like a marching band, Leonard is more of a “wander in, take a look around, and find a comfy spot” kind of guy. Leonard’s mom is a 37-pound Australian Shepherd mix, and while she kept things fairly moderate, dad remains a mystery… and Leonard seems to be leaning into the “let’s be a big dog” side of things. In a litter full of chaos, Leonard is the voice of reason. When the other puppies are hosting full-contact wrestling matches, Leonard might join for a minute… and then politely excuse himself like, “This has been fun, but I’m going to go sit over here now.” He enjoys playing with other dogs, exploring, and being part of the action… he just doesn’t feel the need to be the main event at all times. It’s a pretty impressive level of emotional maturity for someone who still occasionally trips over his own feet. Leonard is easygoing, adaptable, and wonderfully balanced. He’s just as happy to go on a little adventure as he is to stretch out and relax when the excitement winds down. He is doing well with housetraining, but like any puppy, he will need consistency, supervision, and patience as he continues to learn. He needs a family ready to guide him through puppyhood with structure and positive reinforcement. A physically fenced yard is preferred so he has a safe place to explore, sniff, and enjoy his version of puppy zoomies… which tend to be a bit more “thoughtful jog” than “full speed chaos.” If you’re looking for a puppy who brings a calm, steady presence, enjoys playtime without turning every moment into a circus, and will grow into a loyal, easygoing companion, Leonard might be your perfect match. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t demand the spotlight… but somehow ends up being everyone’s favorite anyway. Leonard is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has received two of the three required distemper/parvo vaccinations. His adopters will be responsible for his third distemper/parvo booster and his rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. To meet Leonard, please fill out an adoption application at furfunrescue.org.
