About Wallace
**Please read Wallace's full bio before applying. Wallace is going to need an extremely patient adopter, and will not do well with kids under 10 years old.** Meet Wallace - the boy everyone wants to adopt! But, Wallace needs a very special home. There is no denying that everyone wants to adopt a golden retriever - known for their family friendly, happy go lucky attitudes. But this is not Wallace - at least not now. Wallace is not your typical golden. Wallace was found almost starved to death in the city of Richmond as a stray. Beagles and Bentleys took him into foster, and we were not able to vaccinate him or medically treat him until he gained a significant amount of weight. He had to be fed multiple small meals a day, and his weight had to be monitored daily as well. Wallace has been in his foster home for almost 6 months - and has made a lot of progress. He is in a foster home with another confident dog, and a huge fenced yard to play in. Wallace pancakes when he hears loud noises - and would not do well living in a city or apartment. Wallace's ideal home will have experience with neglected dogs and will have the patience to let him adjust at his own pace. He has done well with cats, which is definitely a plus, so would be ok in a home with cat(s). He needs another confident dog to help him, and hopefully for him to play with. Wallace is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. He is being fostered in Richmond, VA. Submitting a petfinder inquiry does not qualify as an application - you will have to complete an adoption application at beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt. We offer meet and greets and adoption trials once approved to adopt. Wallace's adoption fee is $375. We are making sure that we place Wallace in a home that is committed to his continued socialization and training. We will not be considering adopters in the city/loud areas or adopters with children. Thank you for your interest!
