About Butterball
Butterball’s story begins with heartbreak, but it doesn’t have to end that way. At just about 2½ years old, this handsome orange tabby has already endured more than most cats ever should. Once known as Buddy, he had a home, a name, and someone he trusted, until he was left outside to fend for himself during one of the coldest times of the year. Despite being microchipped and already neutered, no one ever came back for him. So we gave him a new name, Butterball, to mark the start of a new chapter filled with hope, warmth, and love. Butterball has the kind of soft, soulful eyes that seem to tell his whole story. There’s a quiet sadness there, but also a flicker of trust that’s just waiting to grow. He may be a little shy at first and who could blame him? But he doesn’t startle easily, and once he begins to feel safe, his gentle, easygoing nature really starts to shine. Underneath that initial shyness is an incredibly sweet boy who wants to love and be loved again. He leans into affection, rubs against your hand for more pets, and melts under soft head scratches. He’s also got a playful, slightly silly side, especially if treats are involved. Food is definitely the way to his heart. Butterball is comfortable around other cats and does well with children, making him a great companion for a variety of homes. He can even be picked up (on his terms), which says so much about his willingness to trust again. What he needs now is someone patient and kind. Someone who understands that healing takes time, and that the most meaningful bonds are often the ones built slowly. If you’re willing to give him that chance, Butterball will reward you with quiet companionship, tender affection, and a deep, genuine love that only comes from a cat who’s learned to trust again. He’s ready for his fresh start. Could it be with you?
