About Casper

Casper is a striking, medium-sized dog with a cream coat and vivid blue eyes. He came to the rescue when his foster family could no longer keep him, and he’s adapted remarkably well. Casper is a low-slung Basset Hound and Shar-Pei mix, usually weighing around forty to forty-five pounds. He’s young, still in his prime, and brings his best every day. Casper thrives in company—he wants to be with his people as much as possible and gladly shares affection, kisses, and happy tail wags with everyone he meets. He adores other dogs and truly comes alive when playing or socializing in the yard. However, he can get startled easily and will need a fully fenced yard and a secure harness for walks; he’s at risk of bolting if spooked. Casper lights up around other dogs and would be happiest with another playful canine in the home, but he shouldn’t live with cats. He’s polite, house trained, leash trained, and has a naturally gentle temperament, but he is not a good fit for homes with cats. He enjoys snuggling on the couch as much as romping in the yard, and he’s eager for a family ready to cherish him. Casper must be met in person by any adopter—remote adoptions are welcome, but he cannot be shipped or transported by the rescue. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
