About Vanilla Bean

>> - & << Vanilla Bean is a sweet husky pup who will blend in with the Virginia mountains once whenever we got some snowfall! She loves to be outside, and her current foster mom is working on socialization as she came to us absolutely terrified. Vanilla Bean is still less than a year old and we would LOVE to see her personality shine through with comfort and security! Here's what her foster mom has to say about sweet Vanilla Bean: "Vanilla Bean is the biggest sweetheart. While it may take her a bit to open up, once she does, her personality is extremely lovable. Vanilla Bean is playful - she could play with her toys and other dogs all day long. She is very curious and extremely intelligent. She has already learned to come when the word "treat" is called; she knows basic commands such as sit and stay, and she does very well sleeping through the night in her crate. Some of the challenges that we have faced with her are potty training and openness with humans - she still has the occasional accident inside (when she gets excited), although she knows to use the potty when told to outdoors. That being said, she does not dirty her crate at all. When it comes to people, she has claimed me as her "person", so she will let me pet her, groom her, etc., but she still dodges my husband when he tries to pet her because he hasn't worked with her as much. She loves belly rubs and head scratches. As mentioned above, she is extremely intelligent and can be a bit mischievous - she has already learned to open the door by jumping up and pressing down on the handle. I think it's hilarious, but given that some may not, I think it's worth noting that she can be very resourceful. :) I would love to see her in a home where someone can really work with her, take her on walks and be around a lot of people so that her personality can be unlocked to its fullest potential. As I mentioned, we have another dog that climbs over the fence sometimes (he's a husky mix), and while Vanilla Bean could climb over if she wanted to, she has never shown interest even when she has seen him do it, which is good. She has never shown any signs of aggression, even when cornered if I've had to clean her paws off, etc.. She can be territorial over her food and resting place (crate) when it comes to the other dogs (not humans), but all she's ever done is shown her teeth and growled as a warning to the other dogs." updated 01/12/26
