Harriett has shown that she gets along well with other dogs and is especially sweet, though she can be a bit shy when meeting new people. Harriett needs a secure, fenced yard where she can safely adjust and thrive at her own pace. Because she is still shy, patience and a gentle approach will help her blossom into a loyal companion. Harriett is not yet house trained and will need a supportive family willing to guide her through the basics, but her affectionate nature shines through with those she trusts. All animals adopted from the Rockbridge SPCA go directly to a local veterinarian for spay/neuter, and out-of-area adopters are welcome provided they can visit more than once. The shelter does not hold animals, and a fenced area is a requirement to ensure Harriett's safety. College students are not eligible to adopt but are encouraged to volunteer.
