Barkley is a one-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix ready for his next adventure in Disputanta, VA. Born on December 8, he's a Sagittariusātrue to his sign, he's outgoing, energetic, and always up for a new challenge. Tug-of-war and fetch are his favorites, and he's happiest roughhousing or chasing after tough toys. Barkley does well with older kids who can match his energy, but heās not suited for homes with small children or the elderly as he sometimes knocks people down when heās excited. He thrives as the only pet. Barkley isnāt comfortable sharing food, doesnāt get along with other dogs, and has a strong prey drive toward cats and small animals, so heās best as the center of attention in a single-pet household. House and crate training are already checked off his listāheāll head to his crate on command. Like most active, young dogs, Barkley needs supervision and lots of things to do or else his curiosity and boredom may get the better of his surroundings. Heās smart and eager, knows several commands, and takes treats gently. Grooming is easy; he actually enjoys baths and being brushed. Barkleyās happiest close to his peopleāheās not big on personal space and thrives on affection.
