About Penn

Meet Penn — the chill little Pocket Pittie with the biggest heart. At just 32 pounds, Penn is the perfect little pocket pittie — compact, adorable, and packed with personality. But what might surprise you most about Penn is just how incredibly chill he is. Out of all the dogs here on the grounds, he's honestly one of the most relaxed and easygoing we have. Penn's story is a unique one. He and two other dogs, Cornbread (also safe with Seventh Heaven Rescue) and Wiggles, were found walking along the highway after following a woman nearly 10 miles on foot from another town. When she was unfortunately arrested, Animal Control picked up the three loyal little shadows. Sadly, no one ever came looking for them. Their loss became our blessing — because Penn is an absolute gem. Penn is solid black with the cutest floppy ears, but he does look like he has stepped in some white paint and a few little white splatters of paint got on his face. And he has a personality that just draws people in. He's the type of dog that settles right into your life like he's always belonged there. Penn is: • Extremely well-mannered • Very clean in his crate • Fantastic on a leash (my 7-year-old walks him regularly!) • Great in the car • Wonderful with children • And above all... just a super chill, easy dog to be around He loves human attention and being near his people, but he's not wild or chaotic — he's more the “hang out with you and enjoy life” type of dog. Penn does well with most dogs here, but he does have a little bit of “big man in a small body” energy in the play yard. Occasionally he likes to remind other confident male dogs that he thinks he should be the boss of the playground. He is dog selective and especially intact males. The good news is that he walks perfectly alongside other dogs on leash and generally does great with proper introductions — especially with female dogs. It's less about aggression and more about Penn simply believing he might be the CEO of the yard. Penn is 4 years old, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He previously tested heartworm positive, but he has already completed treatment and is now moving forward with a healthy future. What Penn needs now is something he's never truly had — a family of his own. A couch to nap on. A person to follow around the house. And a place where this sweet, floppy-eared little pittie can finally settle in for good. I'll be honest... Penn is one of my personal favorites here. And I have a feeling the person who adopts him is going to say the exact same thing. Please fill out an adoption application if you would like to have him join your family. His $350 adoption fee covers medical care to include vaccines, neuter, heartworm treatments, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY.
