He’s such a perfect angel, loves all dogs (big + small) and is even good with cats and kids. Blue is generally very laid back, but does have some separation anxiety. I think it would go away as he becomes more comfortable. He is great on walks and genuinely enjoys them (needs to lose a few lbs), rain or snow-loves to eat snow! He mostly just wants to sit on his people’s lap and cuddle. He may mark in a multi-dog house, easily managed with belly bands and foster mom has been working on it with him. Adoption Application: https://form.jotform.com/62555766852165 Blue will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. Like all Dachshunds, Blue enjoys playing and warming their little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around their neighborhood, Blue needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, Oregon Dachshund Rescue Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes (or Duplexes) with secure fenced yards. OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print): Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We generally do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together. We prefer non-smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are vetted and vaccinated. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet/dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give Blue a happy, carefree life again?
