Captain is a ray of sunshine! Captain is what's known as a Sato, an island dog from Puerto Rico. We have had many Satos in our shelter by now, and we love how they have such resilience and gentle spirits. Captain made his way to the mainland thanks to one of our rescue partners there. He was cared for by an experienced Sato foster mom for the last couple of weeks and is now onsite and ready for his forever family. Like many Satos, he's the perfect blend of playfulness and affection. He loves toys, exploring the backyard, learning basic manners, and taking out every available toy. When playtime is over, he's all about snuggles and cozy naps by your side. Captain is still a baby, so he's learning all the important puppy skills - potty training, leash walking, and basic manners. Satos are famously smart and adaptable, and this little guy is eager to learn and please. With patience, positive training, and lots of love, he'll grow into an incredibly loyal companion. Satos are special dogs - sweet survivors who form deep bonds with their families. After his journey from Puerto Rico, Captain is ready for stability, kindness, and a lifetime of adventures. Captain's adoption fee is $450. This animal is spayed/neutered, and is up to date on core vaccines appropriate for their age. They will need a Heartworm test between 6-7 months of age at the adopter's own vet. Since he is a puppy, any adopter should anticipate needing to work on housebreaking and other training using positive reinforcement training only.
