* CHECK OUT OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR MORE PICS AND VIDEOS DAILY. 3/12/2026: After chilling like the little boss that he is, and wanting to greet and say hello to every single human and pet that came into the vet hospital this morning, 11 pound 7 year old Miniature Piebald Dachshund Samson aka Sammy, had a perfect report (minus his dental condition of course) from Dr. Josh at Carolina Virginia Animal Hospital. But our little guy looks great otherwise. He is heartworm negative, (thank goodness) and clear of parasites. He received his rabies vaccine and is now microchipped as well. Sammy will get his vaccine boosters in about 10 days when he has dental work done. We hope he doesn’t have to have too many extractions and just needs a really good cleaning on most of the teeth. We’re back to our foster home and it’s a rainy chilly day, which means we’ll probably all be snuggling together for a nap pretty soon. Sammy’s backstory…he was dropped off at the Danville, VA Humane Society as his owner was moving out of town and didn’t take him along. After Sammy’s dental work is complete, he will be ready to go to a forever home. Sammy is neutered, house trained, does well on a leash, would prefer to sleep with you rather than in a crate, but does ok in the crate without too much fuss. He loves other dogs of all sizes and pays no attention to the cats now that the novelty has worn off, which took about a half hour, lol. He is now of course on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
