Meet Sadie, our beautiful black Shepard mix who has already been through so much. This sweet mama had 10 puppies and only 2 survived. Her femoral head is completely out of the socket, causing her constant pain and making it hard for her to move comfortably. Without intervention, she’ll continue to suffer and her mobility will only get worse. The good news…. There’s a proven surgery called FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) that can change everything for her. FHO is a surgical procedure where the “ball” (femoral head) at the top of the thigh bone is removed. This eliminates the painful bone on bone grinding in her hip joint. Over time, her body forms a “false joint” with scar tissue and muscles that cushions and supports her leg, allowing most dogs to walk, run, and play comfortably again without chronic pain. It’s especially effective for medium sized dogs like Sadie, and recovery usually takes 8–12 weeks. Many pups bounce back amazingly well and live happy, active lives afterward!
