About Lucille Sweet And

Meet Lucille, a stunning young Siamese with striking blue eyes, a huge personality, and an even bigger love for her people. Lucille has been through a lot already in her short life. She was declawed by a previous owner before eventually being surrendered to rescue, and after multiple returns, she made her way to New Hope Animal Rescue so we could finally help her find the right home — one where she can feel safe, understood, and loved for exactly who she is. Declawing is a painful procedure that can cause lifelong physical and emotional effects in cats. Many declawed cats develop anxiety, litter box sensitivities, or become more mouthy when overstimulated because they no longer have their natural defenses. Lucille can show some of these behaviors, which is why she thrives best in a calm, predictable home with people who understand and respect her boundaries. And when Lucille feels secure? She is an incredibly devoted companion. She greets her humans at the door, follows them from room to room, “helps” with daily tasks, chats about her day, and curls up nearby at night. She’s social, affectionate, hilarious, and deeply bonded to her people. Her foster describes her as the kind of cat who truly wants to be part of your life, not just living alongside it. Like many Siamese cats, Lucille is smart, emotional, expressive, and sensitive to her environment. She thrives in a quieter home with a predictable routine and people who are home often — someone who works from home or has someone home consistently and wants a constant feline companion would be ideal. Lucille would do best as the only cat in the home. She seems happiest and most relaxed when she doesn’t have to share her space or attention with other cats. We don’t yet know how she would do with dogs, though loud barking and chaotic environments do seem to make her uneasy. Lucille uses her litterbox consistently, but when she becomes anxious or overstimulated, she may urinate on a bed if given unsupervised access. Her foster has found that maintaining a very clean litterbox, keeping bedroom doors closed when unattended, and providing a stable routine have helped Lucille feel secure and successful. She can also become a little mouthy during play or when overstimulated, so she would do best in an adult home or one without young children. Lucille is not a “plug and play” pet, and we want to be thoughtful and honest in finding her the right match. But for the person willing to understand her quirks and give her consistency, Lucille is an incredibly rewarding companion — affectionate, entertaining, deeply loyal, and full of personality. She doesn’t need a perfect home. She just needs one where she finally gets to stay. Apply to adopt: https://nhanimalrescue.org/apply-to-adopt/
