Meet Fairy – The Wiggly Girl with a Bright Spark! This 4-year-old, spayed Pit Bull mix has a happy, wiggly presence in her kennel and greets people with eager energy. She currently has a cover on her kennel, and when the cover was lifted and staff kneeled in front, Fairy came forward to gently smell and touch their hand with her nose, her tail wagging (tucked low) in a soft, friendly manner. At times she barks in her kennel with a high, loose tail wag (FAS 2–3), showing excitement and arousal rather than fear. She’s easy to leash and ready to head out when given the opportunity. Fairy knows “sit,” is treat motivated, and enjoys engaging with her handler, making her a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. On leash, she does pull, but she’s manageable with guidance and consistency. She allows handling such as looking in her mouth and ears, though she does not enjoy restraint and will do best with gentle, low-pressure handling. Fairy may fence fight with other dogs, so closed dividers are recommended in the shelter setting. Slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs would be important. This lively, sensitive girl is looking for a home that can provide structure, patience, and clear boundaries. With consistency and understanding, Fairy will blossom into a devoted companion who shares her wiggles and enthusiasm with the people she trusts.
