About Ryan
Ryan is a young, neutered pit bull who came to the shelter with a serious urinary issue—he was passing bloody urine due to a large bladder stone. The medical team removed the stone surgically, and while analysis of the stone type was pending for a bit, it turned out to be a struvite stone, which is often linked to bladder infections in dogs. Ryan will likely need to stay on a prescription urinary diet for life—veterinary guidance will dial the details as test results and his needs evolve. His bladder incision is healing well, but he also arrived with a fractured canine tooth, which has been extracted. Shelter life hasn’t been easy for Ryan. He's developed Happy Tail Syndrome—he wags with such force that he keeps injuring the tip of his tail against surfaces. Bandages haven’t stayed on, and this may continue to require medical management outside the shelter setting or even surgical amputation if his tail doesn't heal. On the bright side, Ryan has shown nothing but a sweet, tolerant character with staff and the medical team, with zero behavioral concerns noted. He’s a wiggly, happy dog who needs urgent placement where someone can handle his prescription diet and help him avoid further tail trauma. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
