About Elphaba Boq
Meet Elphaba🩷, Boq🩵, and Fiyero💚. These 3 babies were born outside and have struggled greatly since early on with respiratory illness and parasites. Working with our vets to find out why, we learned that sadly, all three have tested positive for feline leukemia virus. FeLV is a retrovirus that impairs the immune system. They contracted this illness as infants from their mother, who passed the virus to them. They are now 6 months old, currently very healthy, sweet, playful and are just about to get spayed/neutered. We are hoping to find them loving forever homes as soon as possible. The FeLV diagnosis is devastating news for all of us at AFOC, but we are determined to find these babies loving forever homes. Their foster mom adores them, and can vouch for how incredible they are. Elphaba, Boq, and Fiyero will need to be adopted into homes that have no other cats, or only has FeLV+ cats. Because there is no cure, it is highly recommended to keep FeLV + and - cats separate. However, other animals and humans CANNOT contract FeLV. These babies can live for many wonderful years in supportive environments. The progression of FeLV can be unpredictable, but these babies deserve to live life to the fullest, with their families in forever homes.
