About Sabbath

Sabbath is a beautiful and loving purebred Maine coon female aged 7 years. She's small for a Maine coon weighing in at 11 lbs but has the classic appearance and chortles at birds as Maine Coons do. Sabbath has been an indoor cat and loves to play with a string or feather, She follows you from room to room and likes to lay by you while you work or sleep, but is not the kind of cat to demand attention while you are working. She's just happy to be by your side. She loves scratches under the chin but doesn't like to be picked up or groomed, but does a very good job of grooming herself. If she has cardboard scratchers she doesn't scratch furniture and is very good about her litter box without accidents. Sabbath does require a renal diet or she gets painful urinary crystals and this diet is more expensive, but once on it she hasn't had any problems. We leave her Hills renal diet C/D kibbles out all the time and encourage her to drink more water by twice a day giving her a half tsp Hills Urinary Diet c/D wet food in a few tablespoons of water. She is good with kids as long as they dont try to pick her up. The reason we need to rehome Sabbath is that we have a new puppy and even though she was completely indifferent to our 2 prior dogs, She attacks the puppy repeatedly and relentlessly throughout the day and has scratched him repeatedly. Despite keeping both pets locked in separate rooms the cat has gotten out and has hurt the puppy and it just feels too dangerous. Sabbath is happy being the only pet in the home and was friendlier than ever when there were no other pets. She loves to watch TV or any screen, loves to sit in a window and watch birds, loves to make muffins on you in bed or chase your feet playfully under the covers. She is a purebred Mainecoon from champion bloodlines and we are hoping to find her an appropriate new home where she will undoubtedly be loved and so much happier than being locked in a room as she is now. This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home. This is a courtesy listing, meaning the cat(s) are being offered for adoption by a rescuer, rescue group, or individual unaffiliated with the Brooklyn Cat Cafe or Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition. As BBAWC has not evaluated the animal(s) we therefore cannot provide information on health or temperament. After we receive an application, we will connect you with the current caretaker of this cat.
