About Wv Annie
Please read carefully before applying — Annie has special needs and important requirements for her forever home. Up for grabs… a pug! No wait — wrong page. This is a cat page! Let’s just say Annie identifies as a pug cat. When she’s happy, she flips her tail up over her back like a pug (not curly, just dramatically adorable). It flops over to the side and looks ridiculous in the best way. I’ve never seen another cat do it — it’s her signature move! Annie is one of those cats who doesn’t show you who she really is right away. At first, she is very scared and will hide. When she came to me, she had her own bedroom, and every time I looked at her, she would run. If I tried to pet her, she fled with eyes like saucers. I thought giving her space was the right thing — and for many cats, it is. But Annie is different. What Annie actually needs is someone who will gently but confidently interact with her right away. If she’s allowed to hide completely, she will stay hidden forever. Once I changed my approach and stopped letting her disappear, everything changed. I began sitting near her hiding spot, talking to her, placing treats nearby, and slowly touching her back and hips. Eventually, I worked up to head scratches — and she loves them. She leans into your hand for chin, cheek, and ear rubs. She is a sweet, affectionate cat once she trusts you. Watching her open up has been incredibly rewarding, and I only wish I had known sooner how much love was waiting inside her. Because of this, her adopter must be willing to start her in a small room with nowhere to hide — a bathroom is ideal — and interact with her from day one. This is not optional. If she can crawl under a bed and vanish, she will. Once she opens up, she becomes playful and confident. She comes out, stretches, flips that silly tail up, and even plays. And speaking of play… when no one is watching, she goes bonkers. I hear her upstairs running, bouncing, and crashing around like a kitten. Either she’s having zoomies or my house is haunted. Jury’s still out. Annie is: ✔ Excellent with the litter box ✔ Not picky about litter ✔ Not picky about food ✔ Eats wet food daily and has dry food out 24/7 We believe Annie is around 10 years old, but you’d never guess it from her energy. She has had dental work: • May 2024 – cleaning and extractions • May 2025 – additional extractions due to gum issues She eats normally and feels great, but adopters should understand she may need future dental care. She has not done well with other cats and should be an only cat. She has not been dog tested, but based on her personality, a dog-free home is recommended. She would do best with older children. Yes, this is a tall order. But Annie is a special girl who needs a special person — someone patient, confident, and willing to show her that love doesn’t hurt, and forever homes are real. Location requirement: You must be within about 5 hours of Mount Lookout, WV and be willing to meet halfway. Due to her shyness, this is a must.
