About Baileysue
Please note: After completing the initial phone screening, you’ll be connected with the foster for a video chat meet and greet. Transports run every few weeks, and approved dogs will be placed on the next available transport. If you’re not ready to adopt until a later date, please wait to apply until that time. We are a volunteer-run rescue, and our team donates time and effort to helping these dogs. If you are not fully committed to moving forward in the adoption process, we kindly ask that you do not apply. If others are involved in the decision-making process, please make sure you’ve discussed the adoption with them and that everyone is on board. We want to ensure we’re using everyone’s time wisely and focusing on finding the right homes for our dogs. This beautiful girl came to us from the Houston shelter after surviving physical abuse, and though it took months for her to trust again, her resilience and gentle spirit now shine through. She just needs a patient, loving home willing to let her open up at her own pace — once she does, she’s pure love. Bailey is being fostered in Austin, Texas and is available for adoption out-of-state. Transport can be arranged for approved adopters. Please note, our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we’ll reach out to coordinate a phone interview, followed by a video call with her foster home. A virtual home visit, plus personal and vet reference checks, are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. Bailey loves to play with other dogs but has what we call “socially awkward” or selective play — she’s friendly, tail-wagging, and enthusiastic, but she likes to take things slow when meeting new friends. She’s done best with dogs around 30–80 lbs and may do particularly well with a calm male dog who can match her energy and help her feel confident. Slow introductions are key to her success. She absolutely adores kids and currently lives with children ranging from 3 to 17 years old. She’s gentle, patient, and happiest when surrounded by her family. Bailey is fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping quietly through the night (9–10 p.m. to 6 a.m.). She’s used to eating and enjoying treats in her crate or outside alone, just to keep things peaceful. She’s never shown any food or toy guarding toward people — she’s just a good girl with great manners! When it comes to leash walking, Bailey does best when she’s had a little time to burn off energy first. Once settled, she walks nicely without pulling, but if she heads out full of excitement, she might need a few reminders. Continued leash work will help her be her best self. Her energy level is medium to medium-low — she loves playtime and activity but can also relax and enjoy a slower-paced home. She doesn’t require another dog to be happy but would enjoy the companionship if it’s the right fit. Bailey is affectionate, smart, playful, and sometimes a little silly. She loves chew toys, car rides, and spending time with her people. When meeting strangers, she can be cautious at first — a mix of curiosity and nerves — but once she warms up, her tail wags nonstop. Because of her past, Bailey needs a home that understands she may take time to feel safe and confident. She may bark or seem unsure around new people or dogs — her reactions are rooted in fear, not aggression. With love, patience, and structure, Bailey blossoms into the loyal, trusting companion she was always meant to be. If you’re looking for a devoted, gentle, and loving dog who just needs a chance to show you her heart, Bailey is your girl. She’s proof that with kindness and time, trust can be rebuilt — and love always wins ___ Breed and Age Notice: The listed breed and age are our best estimates.
