About Sam
"Sam is a 2-year-old, mixed breed (pittie/boxer?) around 50 pounds, with the most adorable snaggle tooth, underbite, mismatched ears, and spotted coat. He came to us from a high-intake shelter in Houston and is now looking for a dependable, loving home. Sam was found wandering near an elementary school after being abandoned. His microchip showed he had been adopted from the same shelter as a puppy – two years prior. This time, his owner didn’t come for him. After 20 days at the shelter, he was at risk of euthanasia for space, and we were lucky to scoop him up just in time. Despite being let down by his family, Sam had great shelter notes: quiet in his kennel, non-reactive to other dogs, and overall easygoing. He’s been just as wonderful in his foster home—chill, crate and housetrained, sleeping through the night, and playing nicely with other dogs. Sam’s jaw is slightly malformed, either from birth or an old injury, but he eats and drinks normally and isn’t in any pain. He’s a healthy boy. He can be a little shy at first and is somewhat head-shy, but he’s gentle and shows no signs of aggression. With a little patience (and a few treats), he warms up quickly and starts handing out kisses. Sam would do best in a calm, predictable home. After experiencing abandonment he never deserved, he’s ready for a fresh start with a family he can truly depend on." Sam is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/sam/.
