About Artie

Artie and his siblings found themselves at Yucca Valley Animal Shelter after their owner passed away. After the shelter supervisor reached out to share their story, we welcomed all four pups to Frosted Faces on January 24th. Artie is 10 years old, weighs 15 lbs., and although his vision is very limited, maps out new environments well. He has lived with a foster family for the past month, which has helped us learn a lot about him in a home setting while he has been receiving lots of TLC. Here's the scoop from his foster mom: "Artie knows his given name well. His nickname here is "Camo" because he can camouflage himself under any blanket! Artie likes to throw a blanket around until it just perfectly covers him, making it hard to tell that there is a dog there, as you can see in the adorable video of Artie with his foster brother. Artie is quiet boy who enjoys sleeping in and then going outside to eat breakfast, take care of business, come back in and go back to bed. He really is the easiest dog. Artie does extremely well in the car, wears a harness if taken on a walk, and only goes short distances. He does not climb up stairs. Occasionally, Artie seeks us out to be held, but he pretty much keeps to himself. When left alone at home, he exhibits no separation anxiety and just goes back to bed. Artie lives side by side with our dogs without much issue but doesn't like dogs getting in his face or jumping in the same bed with him, although he might join them. He growls but has never snapped. We always feed Artie separately from our dogs to give him space. Artie has not had a single accident in the month he's been here. He is very house-trained, will go to the door to let you know he needs out, and if you don't pick up on that cue he will scratch at door, and if you miss that cue he will bark. Same order when he is ready to come back inside. I would not recommend placing Artie in a home with young children. He lived with a single elderly owner previously and most likely never interacted with children. He doesn't like being pulled on or startled." If you're looking for a calm new friend who asks for little but gives quiet, faithful companionship, Artie may be your perfect match!
