About Rhonda Rain Showers

Meet Rhonda Rain Showers! Rhonda Rain is believed to be an American Bully x Pitbull Terrier mix. She is a spayed female and is current on her shots. Rhonda Rain came to HSHP as a rescue pull from another shelter that is experiencing large amounts of intakes. We wanted to help out by pulling one of their long time residents. Rhonda Rain had been sitting there for 5 months with no adoptions. Shelter life is no place for an older girl like Rhonda! She is currently being fostered by one of the HSHP staff! While her foster momma is learning new things about her everyday, she has gathered enough information to make a pretty good bio. Rhonda is very affectionate towards her people! She LOVES booty scratches and loves to throw that big ole' thing in your face. She gets small bursts of energy where she loves to play with her toys and burrow around in her blankets. Once she gets her minor energy boost out, she loves to snuggle into her bed for long naps! Rhonda has a lot of personality and loves to show it! She does the woo woo's when ever she is demanding something. Usually booty scratches, food, and let's go outside. Rhonda does appear to be housetrained and has not had an accident in her foster mom's house yet! She is very treat motivated and has mastered "kennel" wonderfully! She is very well behaved in her kennel and sleeps the time by until her foster mom gets home from work. She does know sit and appears to have been worked with on lay down as well. Rhonda would do best in a home with no cats. She is not outright aggressive towards them and often can walk by them without any care in the world. However, she does randomly decide she wants to chase after them and becomes too focused on this. Given how random this behavior is, I truly think its for the best she not live with any cats. We were told by the shelter we pulled her from that she has gotten along with other dogs before. However, we have noticed that Rhonda appears to be very dominant. She appears to want to play with other dogs, but if they become too playful then she can become annoyed and snap at them. It is also possible that the change in environments could have caused some imbalance her mood. As of right now, we feel it would be absolutely best that Rhonda meet any other dogs living in the home before she can go home with them. Even if the meet and greet goes well, we believe she will need to be eased into the relationship with the other dog and not just allowed to free roam with them right off the bat. Because she does so well in her kennel, it would be best to limit introductions and then have Rhonda sleep in her kennel until she is completely used to the other dog. In the mean time, we will continue to dog test her and see if she may just do better not living with any other animals at all. While Rhonda has not met small children, I do feel she has the type of personality where she will love them! However, when she is asking for love, she can become a little too bull in a China shop and knock them over with that big butt of hers. Rhonda would ultimately do best in a home that is looking for a dog with personality, but not a lot of energy! She is very cuddly and affectionate! I would ultimately believe she would do absolutely best in a home with no other animals, but would be willing to test her with dogs in the event she does find a friend in one of them.
