About Wigsby
Some dogs touch your heart the moment you meet them and Wigsby is one of those dogs! One look into those mesmerizing eyes of his will tell you everything you need to know about this resilient boy. At three years old, this Basenji mix has navigated a journey that would have dampened most spirits, yet he remains a steadfast optimist, ready to offer his heart to a family that will finally hold it forever. Wigsby's story is one of incredible loyalty. First discovered around Thanksgiving of 2024, he showed us just how much he values "home" when he navigated his way back to the people who dumped him after breaking out of the shelter. After overcoming heartworm disease and spending nearly a year in what we hoped was his forever home, Wigsby finds himself back with us through no fault of his own. Despite the transitions, his hope hasn't wavered. He is simply waiting for the person who understands that the best things in life are worth a little patience. Wigsby has a way of looking at you that feels like a deep conversation without a single word. He is extremely dog-friendly and thrives in the company of other pups and would love a furry sibling to show him the ropes. While he can be a bit shy and "breed-typical" protective at first, the payoff is magical. Once Wigsby feels safe, he transforms into a "velcro dog" who will shower you with sweet, grateful kisses. At three years old, he's past the puppy chaos but has a lifetime of adventures left to give. Wigsby is looking for a patient, loving environment where he can settle in at his own pace. Because he can be protective of his "inner circle," he'd thrive with an adopter who appreciates his loyalty and can provide a steady routine. It breaks our hearts to see him back in the rescue, but we know his perfect match is out there-someone who sees his worth and promises that this time, "forever" truly means forever. PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. *An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application* All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee.
