Meet Tex! In November 2025, a high-volume shelter in Texas contacted PWD for help regarding one of their favorite dogs that needed more meticulous medical care. He had a deformed front leg that would eventually need amputation, and he had tested positive for heartworm. That dog was Tex, an easygoing three-year-old German shepherd that weighs about 60 pounds. Tex is your typical GSD: smart, sweet, and loyal. He loves people and meshes well with other dogs. According to a previous foster, he especially enjoys cuddling on the couch. However, he would prefer a home without feline companions. Tex' amputation surgery is complete and he has fully healed. He is now in the middle of Heartworm treatment and should be ready for adoption mid- April 2026. We are certain he will make a fantastic addition to any home with lots of love and a comfortable couch.
