About Zoey

Zoey is a 7-pound, 7-month-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who carries a lot of heart in a small package. She didn’t have the ideal start in life and missed out on some early socialization, so she greets new faces with caution and takes time to feel safe. Give her patience and kindness, and Zoey will open up—her snuggly, affectionate side emerges when she trusts, rewarding you with belly rub requests and cozy cuddles. Still a lively puppy, Zoey loves to play, entertains with silly zoomies, and shows that typical puppy curiosity by play-nibbling. She does great with other dogs and really needs a confident canine friend in her new family to help her continue learning how good life can be. Secure fencing is a must since Zoey is tiny, fast, and can be spooked easily. She’s working on potty training, uses a doggy door, and absolutely prefers curling up with people or pets for naps versus being crated alone. A quiet home with gentle, older children who understand how to respect small dogs would suit Zoey best. She could do well with a cat, given the right introductions, based on her temperament. If you don’t already have a dog, Zoey may be adoptable as a pair with one of her dog buddies from her foster home. She’s searching for a patient, loving family who will continue socialization and positive training to help her grow more confident and settle in as a truly devoted companion. If helping a shy pup blossom sounds rewarding, Zoey may be the match you’re looking for. Your new best friend is just one click away.

Questions about Zoey

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Zoey, as a Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix, is best suited for an environment where she can feel safe and secure, preferably in a calm home with a consistent routine. Small breeds like hers often do well in apartments or houses as long as they have proper supervision and enrichment.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Zoey doesn't need a huge yard, but she benefits from a secure, fenced area since she is small and can be a bit of an escape artist. Daily walks and playtime are plenty for her energy level.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Zoey's breed mix can do well with children, but given her shyness and small size, a home with older, gentle kids who know how to handle small dogs carefully is the best fit.
