About Happy

Meet Happy! Happy is exactly what her name promises - a joyful, lively young girl who brings sunshine wherever she goes. She originally made her way to Oregon as part of a transport group from a shelter we partner with in California's Central Valley. Not long after arriving, she was adopted by a wonderful family here in Bend. Unfortunately, after a few months, her adopter's health began to decline. Wanting the very best for Happy, they made the loving and selfless decision to reach back out to us so we could help her find a new home where she can continue to thrive. We're grateful they put her needs first - and now it's our turn to find her next chapter. Happy is a typical young pup: playful, curious, affectionate, and full of energy. She absolutely loves people and craves connection and attention. She's the kind of dog who wants to be part of the action - whether that's playtime in the yard, neighborhood walks, training sessions, or simply hanging out with her family. Because she's still young, Happy will flourish in a home that can provide: Plenty of daily physical exercise Ongoing training and positive reinforcement Clear boundaries and consistent guidance Lots of socialization and mental enrichment No one wants a bored puppy - and with the right structure and engagement, Happy will blossom into an incredible lifelong companion. She would do best with a family who is home more often and excited to invest the time and energy that young dogs need during these important developmental months. Happy has already shown how resilient and adaptable she can be. Now she's ready for a stable, committed home that will cherish her playful spirit and help shape her into the amazing adult dog she's meant to become. If you're ready for puppy kisses, wagging tails, and a whole lot of love, Happy might just be your girl. Will you be her Lucky Hero? What this pup Is looking For: What We Know & Why We Love Them (foster/volunteer/staff feedback): Foster Update 3/1/26: Happy's Foster Update Happy truly lives up to her name - she's an affectionate, playful, high-spirited young girl who absolutely adores her people. At her core, she is a love. She forms a strong bond with her person and thrives on connection, companionship, and shared adventures. She would likely be happiest with a single person or a couple who want a devoted sidekick. Happy naturally stays close to her person (she's not a wanderer!) and loves being involved in whatever you're doing. Because of her size and athleticism, she could be an incredible adventure buddy - hiking, exploring, and she'd likely excel at agility or other dog sports with the right guidance. She's smart, capable, and eager to engage. Happy does well with other dogs overall, but she can be protective of high-value items like toys and food, so thoughtful management and continued training in multi-dog settings will be important. She would not be a good fit for a home with cats. Because she's still young and learning, she will need continued structure and guidance. She's making progress but is not fully potty trained yet, so consistency and patience will be key. She also has some reactivity that seems to show up when she feels restricted (such as on leash or in a kennel) or when she's feeling especially protective of her person. For that reason, she would do best with an experienced, confident dog owner who understands body language and is committed to positive, structured training. A home without young children (under 10) would be best, as Happy can be intense in her enthusiasm and will benefit from a calmer environment. Her ideal scenario? Someone with an active lifestyle who wants a loyal, athletic companion - perhaps even a van-life adventurer or outdoorsy individual/couple looking for a devoted copilot. She has the attachment, size, and energy to make an incredible travel buddy for the right person. Happy isn't a "plug-and-play" pup, but for the right home, she is incredibly rewarding. With structure, leadership, and love, she will give her whole heart in return.
