Meet Sam! This handsome 1-year-old terrier/boxer mix weighs around 52 pounds and is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. Sam was heartbreakingly dumped at a rural Kentucky shelter in August 2025 when he was just 6 months old. He waited there for months, watching other dogs leave while he remained behind. In December, a rescue in KY stepped in and moved him to their rescue, giving him the chance to experience life outside the shelter. Now Sam is with us, hoping to finally find his happy ever after. Despite the ups and downs, Sam’s sweet nature has never changed. He is incredibly friendly, gentle, and loving. He plays well with other dogs and enjoys playtime just as much as he loves soaking up pets and attention. Whether he’s romping around with a buddy or leaning into you for scratches, Sam is simply happy to be near his people. At 52 pounds, he’s a solid, fun-loving boy with a soft heart. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter
