Life has a way of making every creature work as hard as they possibly can. Toby knows a thing or two about hard work and hard times. This stoic boy has seen himself in the home of multiple families, in and out of the shelter and now in a better suited foster situation for the time being. He is a smart dog with sometimes a little sass in how he feels about people or things. Toby enjoys his main humans most. The ones that feed him, play with him, walk him and spend quality time with him are the best ever. All others are not necessary, wanted or needed. Toby is a home body, its clear that at a young age he did not get a ton of socialization with humans or animals. Despite that he is a pretty good listener and with some training he has improved significantly on his walks. We think that a suburban environment away from city noise and bustle will be better for him ultimately. At this time he is braving the city life and doesnt like the pressure of all the silly neighborhood dogs that live in such close quarters. He sees his future out in the open prairie or forest preserves with a family that can take the time to let him enjoy his maturity. Toby is around 4-5 years old and he is more than willing to give it a shot again with the right family. Pitbull experience or large breed is recommended. As well as a quieter household with less guest traffic. Toby is crate trained and respects gates, he is still at times a little standoffish with strangers in the home. Currently Toby lives with a female and he doesnt really mind her too much. She is an older dog and they mostly just hang out. A calm dog about his size he may be comfortable living alongside.
