Meet Canelo, Again Age: 2 years Location: Sapulpa Neutered: Yes Canelo is a VERY sweet, high-energy Belgian Malinois with a huge heart and an even bigger drive to work and play. He is incredibly affectionate, loves his people, and will happily lean in for pets any chance he gets. Toys-especially squeaky ones-are his absolute favorite and one of the best ways to engage and bond with him. Canelo was recently adopted and returned since unfortunately his adopter was unable to give him the structure and the time he needed. This was not a failure on Canelo's part. He is a higher drive dog who requires consistency, leadership, and follow-through. Without that, he will test your boundaries! The good news? Canelo has completed a 2-week board and train with JPK9 Oklahoma and has a strong foundation in place work, heeling, basic obedience and neutrality in public. He can attend weekly group classes and has access to 1:1 touch-up sessions as needed for the life of the dog! He is both food and toy motivated, making him highly trainable in the right hands. He would thrive as a running, hiking, working, or sport partner. Hiking is one of his favorite things to do! He needs an active home that understands the Malinois breed and is committed to continued training and structure. At the Veteran's Day parade, Canelo happily accepted lots of pets from kids and adults alike. Because he is enthusiastic and powerful, he would likely do best in a home with older or bigger kids who can handle his energy. Canelo is dog neutral with a confident handler and with the guidance of his trainers (especially when his mind is focused on obedience and working). He did do well with a small chihuahua so it is a possibility to have him in the home with a small dog (depending on the individual dog) He has not yet been tested with cats. Canelo is approved for the Battle Buddies program and would make an incredible partner for a veteran ready to invest in him. This boy is loyal, driven, affectionate, and full of potential - but he needs a committed, capable handler who will follow through.
