She recently came to the rescue with her friend Thalia after their elderly owner was no longer able to care for them. Kalista was extremely shy at first, often seeking comfort in a quiet corner, but she’s already showing heartwarming improvement with love and gentle attention as seen in her update video. Kalista thrives best in a peaceful household without young children or excess noise, as she is easily startled and prefers a soft, slow approach. She does well with other dogs and is comfortable in a kennel environment, but will need help building confidence with basics like leash walking. Due to her small size (just over 6 pounds), she must always be supervised outdoors for her safety—predators are a real threat to tiny dogs. Kalista is up to date on all her vetting, spayed, microchipped, and has had dental care. She’d love to find a caring family that will keep her as a cherished indoor companion and provide her with the security and patience she needs to blossom. *Adopters with a history of responsible dog ownership and an excellent veterinary reference are required. The adoption process includes an application, and out of state adoptions are possible if you can travel to meet Kalista in person. No shipping or transport is provided.
