About Hazel

Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Hazel is a petite tabby whose shy demeanor is simply the result of a rough start in life. Having spent part of her early days as a stray, Hazel was originally cared for as a feral cat and is already spayed and ear-tipped. Over time, she's shown her caregivers that, with patience and understanding, she blossoms into a loving companion. She’s now happily settled indoors and is gradually becoming more comfortable around people, although she still appreciates a calm environment and gentle introductions. Hazel is seeking a forever home where she can continue to decompress and gain confidence at her own pace. She’s a sweet young cat who promises rewarding companionship to someone willing to let her open up in her own time. All cats and kittens in the program are tested for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies (if old enough), dewormed, provided with vet-approved flea prevention, spayed/neutered when age-appropriate, and microchipped. Kitties like Hazel benefit from their time in foster care, where they develop good litter box habits and become socialized with people to ensure the best match for an adoptive home. Adopters must be willing to pick up in person at the Humane Society of Calloway County in Murray, KY; transportation arrangements require the cat to be flown only in-cabin if coming from out of state—no shipping permitted. All cats are indoor-only, and declawing is discouraged due to its potential physical and emotional harm. Meet-and-greet sessions for selected adopters provide ample opportunity to decide if Hazel is the right fit for your family. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
