Star is only three years old but, since she was a puppy she has only known the home with her "mom" who believed they would grow old together. Years passed the way they do- softly at first then all at once. Her owners hands grew stiff, the stairs felt steeper, the leash heavier. Star needed longer walks to keep her weight in check, steadier footing and someone strong enough to handle the leash. She started missing walks, then vet appointments became harder to manage and her owner realized she could no longer keep Star. Love wasn't the problem- it was the reason. Star needed a home where she could run again, have a yard and younger hands to throw her ball. Love isn't measured by how long we hold on- sometimes it's measured by whether we're brave enough to let go. We don't know if Star is full bred, but its certain she has the mix of Aussie and maybe even border collie. She is around three years old and is being fostered in Washington DC She was initially fostered with other dogs, was calm, easy going and socially well behaved. She is a herding breed and as such I would expect you find that she would look to herd children or other pets...so being familiar with the breed is important. She has unique colorations and variable coat patterns- no two dogs share a coat when it comes to Aussies. Star is intelligent, active, loyal, protective, playful and adaptive. She is housebroken, well behaved in the home and should be given ample exercise to help walk off the little extra weight she found herself gaining when her owner's walks decreased.
