About Nova
Meet Nova Nova is a 1-year-old, 28-pound sweetheart with the softest soul. Her DNA was done and she is almost 1/2 Austrian shepherd and 1/4 Austrian cattle dog. The other 1/4 is a big mix. She is an extremely timid girl who wants so badly to trust her people and cuddle up close — she just needs a calm, patient home to help her fully come out of her shell. Nova is still adjusting to life inside a home, so slow movements, gentle voices, and a predictable routine will help her feel safe. Once she feels comfortable, you'll see her true personality shine — especially outside! That's where Nova really comes alive. She loves being outdoors and would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard where she can run and explore confidently. She has spent time around children ages 6–12 and does wonderfully with gentle kids who respect her space (bonus points if they offer snacks!). She is incredibly gentle when taking treats from both adults and children. Nova doesn't quite know how to play with toys yet, so a calm, confident dog in the home could help teach her the ropes. She would do best with another mellow pet who won't crowd her. She is currently nervous around a cat who tries to chase and engage her, and while she has occasionally growled when her space isn't respected, it's simply because she feels overwhelmed — not aggressive. She is potty trained but will not yet signal when she needs to go out; she does well on a consistent schedule. Nova whines in her crate during the day due to some anxiety but sleeps peacefully in her crate at night as long as it's in the same room as her person. She has especially bonded to the female in her foster home and does experience some mild separation anxiety — she simply wants to be near her people as much as possible. At her core, Nova is a loving, gentle girl who desperately wants to belong. With time, patience, and a steady home, she will blossom into an incredibly devoted and loyal family companion.
