Gretchen is a brindle American Bully/Hound mix living in Mount Holly, NJ. She’s a senior female with a short coat and is spayed. Her vaccinations are current. While she isn't house trained, Gretchen has learned to walk on a leash and is crate trained, making her a loyal companion ready for a caring home.

About Gretchen

Gretchen found herself at the shelter as an older, abandoned dog. She arrived in rough shape and was initially thought to be sick, but it turned out she was pregnant at about 9 years old. She endured the trauma of losing both puppies, followed by surgery for an infected uterus, being spayed, and a battle with heartworm—which thankfully she beat. Through all this, she stayed resilient. Early attempts at matching her with other dogs failed—not due to any fault of Gretchen’s, but because she was still recovering and needed gentle care. She’s a determined, confident dog, qualities sharpened by her experiences. For her age, she’s impressively active outdoors and loves cuddles and one-on-one attention inside. Gretchen is happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up your affection without competition. Her bond with her person is what matters most. Now in her senior years, Gretchen deserves comfort and stability—a soft couch, a peaceful home. She’s not destructive and has left puppy mischief far behind. She’s house broken, good on leash, and crate trained, but at this stage, she just wants to relax and be someone’s companion. Through the "Adopt a Senior Program," her adoption fee is sponsored, easing common worries about adopting a senior. Ready to give an older dog the secure, loving home she’s always deserved?
