Estimated to be around 10 years old, Merit has unfortunately experienced two previous county shelter stays through no fault of his own. Merit is a shy, sensitive soul who would truly thrive with a patient and gentle adopter willing to help him continue building confidence. He peacefully coexists with dogs, cats, and even kittens. His ideal home would be calm and without young children, so he can feel safe and relaxed. His perfect match? Someone who is home often, enjoys the quiet companionship of a loyal little shadow, and can stay one step ahead of his creative (and impressive!) escape attempts. Merit does well in his crate and, aside from an occasional potty mishap as he settles in, he's adjusting beautifully.
