Meet Colton - The 70lb Teddy Bear Colton is a gorgeous 3-year-old Lab mix who holds a title he’s ready to resign: Longest-Stay Resident. This goofy, water-loving "lap dog" is ready for his big break. Colton is a "True Outdoorsman." He’s at his happiest with the wind in his ears and grass under his paws. If there’s a splash to be had—pool, pond, or stock tank—Colton is in it! The "Lean-In" Giant: At 70lbs, he’s basically a breathing stuffed animal who truly believes he belongs in your lap. Colton is looking for a home with a little "elbow room." He is the perfect match for a ranch, acreage, or a large yard where he can roam. He’s just starting to discover the perks of indoor life (like TV and naps!). He is available through our Foster-to-Adopt program so you can take him home on a trial basis to ensure he fits your lifestyle perfectly before making it official! Colton tested positive for heartworm but don’t let his HW+ status worry you—HSNT fully covers the cost of his treatment, and our amazing veterinary team will walk you through the process every step of the way. He is feeling great and ready for his fresh start! Colton has made a few canine friends at the shelter, but he can be selective about his circle. He’d love to be your one-and-only, but if you have a resident pup, a meet-and-greet is the perfect way to see if they’re a match! On a recent volunteer outing, he proved to be a total professional in the car and a gentleman at the park—he didn't even mind the scooters or the kiddos! He is a regular at 151 Coffee, where he politely sits and waits for a pup cup every time the door opens. But the best part about Colton is his heart; he will sit right by your side, leaning in for hugs and staring into your eyes like he’s looking into your soul. Colton has been waiting since July, when he was transferred here after the Texas Floods to make room for displaced animals. He's spent far too long waiting for a home and is ready to trade the shelter for true home of his own.
