Here's Lucia! She is a sweet and sensitive 2-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix looking for a patient, loving home. Lucy can be shy at first, especially around men and new people, and needs time and gentle introductions to feel safe. Once she trusts you, she becomes a devoted "Velcro dog" who loves cuddling, following her person around, and soaking up affection. She has made great progress in her foster home and continues to grow more confident every day. Lucia has an adorable, goofy side too. From her little "teefs" smiles to her morning belly rub routine and playful zoomies, she brings lots of joy once she feels comfortable. She also loves lounging on the couch and watching the world go by. She is mostly potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and does well in the car. Lucy can be vocal when people come to the door or when other dogs are barking. Lucy would do best in a calm, quiet home with patient adopters who understand that building trust takes time. She does well around cats and has been friendly with small dogs. With love, consistency, and patience, Lucy will blossom into an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. Lucia is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.
