About Whiskey
Please meet Whiskey the shepherd, a really cool dude sure to warm your heart this winter! Whiskey has been neutered, vetted, microchipped, and received a clean bill of health from our vet. Please read on for his story, and for instructions on how to request an application for him! Here is what we know about WHISKEY: - Whiskey is just about 2 years old now, and weighs @ 81lbs. He has the perfect lean and muscular shape, so we don't anticipate him getting much bigger at all. - Whiskey is a Belgian shepherd mix - mixed with what is certainly anybody's guess, but with this guy's body structure we think maybe multiple different types of shepherds! - Whiskey was found as a young pup, and cared for by a wonderful family who can no longer keep him. Whiskey is very attached to his people and to his doggy siblings, so we would love to see him go to a home where he would have both human and doggy companionship consistently. - Whiskey is a very good boy and so smart - he thinks he's a (giant) lap dog and loves to cuddle! Foster mom says he loves to chew, so his new family will need to keep a close eye on that behavior to make sure he doesn't get into anything he's not supposed to. - Whiskey is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and has received a clean bill of health. One thing to note is that Whiskey does take (2) medications for seizures. He experienced his first seizure around thanksgiving, but since being put on medication he hasn't experienced another one and is doing really well. - Whiskey currently lives happily in his foster home with other dogs and gets along just fine with them. We think he would love a doggy sibling to bond and play with. He is a super active boy who has a touch of separation anxiety when left alone, so playmates are welcome! - There are also cats in Whiskey's foster home, and he co-habits well with them. Any dog savvy cats who wouldn't be scared of his size should be fine! - Whiskey would make a great family dog for a patient and active family who could continue with his training and acclimation so that he can really reach his doggy potential. He is used to a large fenced in yard for playtime, so we are recommending that his new home have an ample sized fenced in yard for him to burn off energy in. - While not a requirement to apply, applicants with prior breed experience and knowledge is a plus. What we love about Whiskey: He's a really cool guy! Is Whiskey the one for you? If so, he's got his doggie bags packed and is ready to make his way home to you! His adoption fee is $400! That covers all of his vetting and care up until the point of adoption. If interested, please reach out to Brittany at Brittany.pacne@gmail.com and she will break down the adoption process for you and send you an application link! *Paws & Claws New England, a/k/a Paws and Claws Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization made up of volunteers and fosters who devote their time and love to help save homeless dogs and cats.
