About Marshall

Marshall could author quite a memoir despite his short life so far! Marshall was seen by our Board President getting rolled by a car on a busy road in NJ in July 2025. She pulled over to rescue him and fortunately he wasn’t harmed beyond being very scared. She ran into the Marshall’s he had been rolled in front of to see if she could obtain a proper bag to transport him in. He rode back to our headquarters in Philly in a snazzy zipped up Marshalls beach bag and found his name from this graceful moment. Marshall was very tiny and loaded with fleas. He was all of one pound and eating on his own but we knew he would benefit from being reunited with his mom and any siblings so a mission to find them ensued. His mother was never identified but some sick kittens who were similar in age were found near the busy road where he nearly lost his life. Marshall and his possible siblings were loaded with fleas and half were suffering from eye infections. After a few baths, proper meals and TLC, they began to blossom. On day three however, Marshall developed swollen glands and red gums. He soon spiked high fevers and pneumonia despite the vet care he was receiving. We hospitalized him and soon learned he had a bacterium contracted from fleas that young kittens or frail cats are very susceptible to getting very fatally sick from. After 5 hospitalizations and a long course of medications, Marshall got better! He finally was able to get neutered and all his shots! Throughout it all Marshall showed his incredible purrsonality. He loves nothing more than to lean into you purring. He is super playful and downright rambunctious! After his third hospitalization after he had been admitted for an 106°F temperature, he was discharged once it was down to 104°F (normal is 100/101°F for kittens) and he returned to his foster home ready to play! Marshall loves to wrestle and play with foster siblings, Meowy Cyrus and Hermes. He also still enjoys roughhousing and snoozing with his cousin, Macy. He is super cuddly when his isn’t busy tearing up the universe and enjoying life to it’s fullest. Marshall is a survivor and a lesson in gratitude and joy. He reminds us every day of the fragility of life and how we should embrace our chances with full vigor and gratitude! https://www.familiarhearts.org/adoptable-pets
