About Benny
Meet Benny, a roughly 8-month-old Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler and German Shepherd Dog mix who learned survival far too young. Raised by stray, abandoned dogs, Benny spent his first months outside—unprotected, hungry, and fending for himself. A leg injury from his time in the wild still lingers and will require surgery, but Benny's spirit stays completely untarnished. Despite the hardship, Benny is as affectionate and loyal as they come. He adores human attention and forms strong bonds with his people. Like his breeds, Benny is sharp, resilient, and determined; once he trusts you, he's devoted for life. He approaches the world with a string of hope, not bitterness. Benny will need time to heal after surgery, but he’s expected to make a full recovery and should be ready for a home able to nurture his affectionate, intelligent nature. He’s not yet house trained and will need someone to guide him—patience and consistency will pay off with a steadfast companion. Montague County Animal Rescue asks that adopters plan to integrate Benny fully into indoor family life. Outdoor-only placements are not standard, though exceptions can be discussed for experienced owners with secure setups. If you’re looking for a courageous, playful pup who has earned a second chance, Benny is ready to write a new chapter with you. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
