About Pumpkin
There's nothing quite like small dog energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These tiny dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them lost and alone on city streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Pumpkin, at around 4 years old and and a petite 7 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this beautiful and sweet as can be little girl. They rescued Pumpkin just in time to spare her life. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Pumpkin is a cute as can be girl with a goofy and irresistible personality (once comfortable in her environment). Her stunning golden coat (with the most endearing white snout) speaks to the cuteness of this Chihuahua / Toy Fox Terrier mix. From Pumpkin's foster: "This girl is super sweet, loves people, potty trained, and good with dogs! Easy breezy sweet lil girl! " Pumpkin is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her age and is learning about the world in that very cute way that young dogs do. She's super smart and engaging and will make a wonderful best friend for a dog-loving Colorado family. Since Pumpkin is still a young girl, she's a blank slate waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion and will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement Training Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment, yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with friendly and engaging behavior. We think that Pumpkin will shine in a forever home with active retirees with lots of of time and energy to train and enjoy a young dog. We believe she'd also do well with a younger family with older, dog-crazy children that can participate in a gentle training regimen. Pumpkin will be up to date on her vetting and vaccinations to ensure the excellent health of every dog that Farfel's adopts out. She will also be spayed to honor our commitment to be part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Pumpkin will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 3/4/2026.
