About Dylan
Meet Dylan This handsome hound mix has stolen quite a few hearts at our shelter. He is so gentle and timid, but we feel certain once he knows heās safe weāll start to see his personality shine. We pulled Dylan from a high kill shelter. We have no idea what his life was before we got him, we can only observe his reactions and personality to try and discern what may have gone on. Dylan was shut down at the high kill shelter. He plastered himself to the back of the kennel. He was scared to walk and fell to shaking. But that is his past. Dylan is moving forward and is beginning to relax into the world of our no-kill shelter, where he has all the time he needs to decompress and heal. Our team has been showing him love and kindness. Heās feeling safe and in time heāll lean into this and shine. Dylan loves going into our play yards. He enjoys playing and is eagerly welcoming all the pets and attention he can get. His tail is wagging more and heās running around with joy. Dylan is dog friendly and he likes to meet up with the other dogs in the yards next to him. Dylan is fine with cats. He seems afraid of them. We have noticed that Dylan does frighten easily. If you clap your hands, run at him or reach over his head, he thinks heās in trouble and will pancake on the ground. Itās heartbreaking to see this and is most likely a result of his past. But he never lashes out, he goes inward and weāre learning that we just have to move a little slower with him and heās fine. Dylan is about two years old. He weighs 51 lbs. He has a handsome face, a pretty brown coat, heās long, lean and athletic. He is very good on a leash. He even seems to be potty-trained. His manners are wonderful. Heās trying so hard to be brave, to fit in. We think Dylan is going to be a wonderful companion to any family with his warmth, charm, and friendliness. He just needs a little TLC, some confidence building, a safe place (with a fenced yard) and consistency. Dylan is a gem and deserves a loving home. Heāll be neutered in March.
