This handsome guy, estimated to be about 51⁄2 years old and weighing 25 pounds, has already overcome more than any dog ever should. Darnold was surrendered to a local shelter after being seen treated cruelly by his previous owner, including being kicked and struck before being left behind. Thankfully, shelter staff acted quickly and made sure he received a full medical evaluation. X-rays showed no internal injuries, but it was clear that what Darnold needed most wasn't medicine, it was kindness. When the shelter reached out asking if we could help, there was no question. Darnold deserved a fresh start, and since arriving at our rescue he has been proving just how resilient and loving he truly is! Despite everything he's been through, he chooses trust again and again. He leans into affection, seeks out attention, and melts the moment he realizes he's safe. Darnold joined us on Super Bowl Sunday, which is how he got his name and honestly... it fits. This Darnold may not throw touchdowns, but he wins people over just as fast. He's affectionate, eager to connect, and happiest when he's close to his humans. Treats will absolutely win him over, cuddles seal the deal, and once he feels comfortable, his playful side comes out in full force. He has a fun, bouncy energy and would love a home where he can play, go for walks, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day. He does well with other dogs and seems to genuinely enjoy having canine company, but more than anything, Darnold is ready to belong to someone who will treat him with the patience and love he's always deserved.
